I sat in a Sunday School class this past week listening to a brilliant mind explain the universe (yes, the *actual* universe). The science blew the minds of everyone in the room. And I came away feeling so—for lack of a better word—dumb. I asked myself why I’m writing and publishing a book, because my ideas are so “quotidian” (a word I just learned the definition of in my 60s). Well, you have given me permission to keep showing up. As myself. Your words were such a gift to me. Thanks! 🐞
Oh, so good Tanner. What a blessing being human is (even though it isn't always easy). I hope one day God graces me with the time and opportunity to see you read your poetry in person. :)
I could picture you up there (don’t worry, I didn’t stay too long on the blank face expression). My toxic trait used to be pretending I was perfect and that any mistake I made was someone else’s fault (Blake smudged my paper!). So I think I was particularly touched at your boldness to restart AND that it didn’t ruin your night. This feels like big growth, and I’m here to celebrate it with you!
You my friend are such a gift and your authentic self showing up in these holy ordinary moments and rejoicing for being yourself is so beautiful. Asian Lady Beetles should be the name of a band that I can play guitar in and you can sing and wax poetry from a grounded space. You’re the real deal my friend and we are all in your corner Tanner!
