Hello!
Today’s post is free for everyone. If you would like to support the work I do here, I’d love to have you support this ministry at the monthly, annual, or founding member level.
Everything is all right.
There are a few words I have trouble getting right.
I definetely have a problem spelling definitely.
I always double-check there/their and our/are.
Separate—are we sure that’s really how it’s spelled?
When I write pause, I can’t help but think of paws.
But the one that trips me up the most is breathe versus breath.
Which one is which?
Which word gets the e?
How do I remember the difference?
Michelle Branch.
I was 14 years-old when Michelle Branch released her hit, Breathe. That song has lived rent free in my head ever since. Honestly, I would pay for it to stay there if it weren’t already living in my brain for free.
It’s a song about release and renewal, hope and continuing. It has that early-2000s vibe, the kind that makes you believe her when she sings, "Everything is all right."
When I listen to it my mind cannot help but picture an open road. Windows down. Sun overhead. A blue sky that stretches on forever. The melody makes me feel like I’m moving forward, even when I’m standing still. It captures what I so often feel as a writer: a mix of melancholy and hope.
If I just breathe
Let it fill the space between
I'll know everything is all right
Breathe
Every little piece of me, you'll see
Everything is all right
If I just breathe
When I am writing and jot down the word breathe, my mind quickly wonders, wait .. e or no e? What does Michelle Branch say?
Everything is all right
If I just breathe
With the e.
What are some weird and wonderful things your mind does when you’re writing?
And in the Morning
And in the morning,
sit with the waking, the waiting.
Not lost, just becoming,
as you learn to be still
in a world that won’t stop spinning.
Before you move, slow down.
Let time unfold:
the sun rise,
the dew lift,
the birds sing.
Breathe.
And breathe.
And breathe again.
Let stillness find you,
like waters stilled
at the sound of Jesus’ voice.
You are not late to your own life.
You are right here—
right on time.
Held by grace,
Not in pieces, but in place.
And that’s enough.
That’s enough for today.
Coming Soon: Wednesday Poetry Club
What is the Wednesday Poetry Club?
Well, it’s something you are invited to.
It’s a club.
For poets and readers and really anyone.
It’s a space where poems are shared, community is found, and inspiration is ignited.
Is it an exclusive club? Yes. Every club is exclusive. If a club says it isn’t exclusive, it isn’t a club.
Are there meetings? Maybe. But not required to attend.
Will it cost money? No. But there will be merch. So, kinda yes. But no.
How do I become part of the club? Great question. And one day I will answer it, but today is not that day. I’ve got a little more planning to do.
Who is invited to be part of this exclusive club? We went over this. You are. But not yet.
Why? Because I still need some time to get it together. Stay tuned.

I just entered one of my poems in a contest and it was given a lower ranking because I said breath instead of breathe! Love this. God bless you with all you need.
I agree, seperate/separate is one of my worst enemies.
