Welcome to The Stillness //
For the last two years I’ve been traveling the country and co-hosting evenings of music and poetry alongside musician, Blake Flattley. Most of our shows take places at churches, sometimes in living room and at conferences. These evenings were designed to be a break from the chaos and heaviness of life. A night of hope and rest. A moment to breathe and be. A time for you to slow down and join … the stillness.
One evening after a show we were driving back to our hotel when an idea came to us: WE SHOULD START A BAND.
So, we did.
Well, kind of.
The Stillness is not your typical band.
Blake and I wanted to create something that would invite you deeper into rest and hope.
Something that would remind you and guide you to slow down.
A kind and quiet invitation that would move you to look up and remember grace and mercy and the One who freely gives it.
Think of these tracks as hopeful commercial breaks, except we aren’t selling you anything.
These tracks aren’t long or loud.
They are honest invitations to continue with hope.
Our first track is titled, Welcome to the Stillness.
We hope you enjoy it.
Make sure to follow along.
We’ve got another track coming soon!
Listen and follow on Spotify.
Listen and follow on Apple Music.
Lyrics //
Before today begins, let the mercy of another morning meet you right where you are.
Open your hands and receive the invitation to join the stillness.
Feel the hand of grace remove the weight of your past.
Let yourself be still and breathe free and believe that goodness is not gone, but is following closely.
As the light touches the sky, see that hope is not distant, but it is here.
Right where you are, hope is here.
And what a gift it is to be here and to embrace the stillness.

So cool!! Loved this line: "believe that goodness is not gone, but is following closely." Such a great pull from the Scriptures - "surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." Made me really pause and re-realize that. It's a promise.
That was so peaceful and serene- great track 🔥
