Hello!
Today’s post is free for everyone. If you would like to support the work I do here, I’d love to have you support this ministry at the monthly, annual, or founding member level.

“I don’t know, maybe we will have a child when we go to Hawaii.”
This is what we said to one another last June as we were booking flights for Sarah’s parents 40th wedding anniversary trip.
It was a thought.
It was a hope.
It was a prayer.
We had said sentences like this before.
“We might be parents in 9 months!”
We said this when we first started trying to have children.
“Well, maybe by summer we will have a little one with us.”
We said this right before the Pandemic began.
“Maybe this will be the year we get pregnant!”
We said that for four years.
“Maybe there will be a miracle.”
We said this after the doctor diagnosed us with unexplained infertility.
“I’m glad we have a dog.”
We have said this every day for years.
I can tell you that God has a plan, but I cannot tell you the plan.
I can tell you that God is good, but I know there are seasons when you will wonder if this is true.
I can tell you that God is faithful, but I cannot even begin to describe how.
I can tell you that God is present, but I know there are moments when He feels far.
I can tell you that God is listening, but I cannot tell you how or when He will answer.
But He will answer and it probably won’t be when or how you thought.
We are in Hawaii and Judah is here with us.
The first night we arrived on the island I held him as we watched the waves roll in.
They are big and powerful and unending.
Just like our prayers.
The sun began to set as we were settling in. His back pressed against my chest. My arm under his legs, his feet kicking towards the water. Both of us were tired from the full day of travel. It takes a long time to get to where you want to be. I squeezed him tight and close and with a whisper I said, “Wow.”
And I wasn’t talking about the view.
With Hope,
Tanner Olson

This is so beautiful. I am so happy for you and your sweet family.
It takes a long time to get to where you want to be. But you are all of a sudden there. God can move pretty quickly after a while.
