It happened this week.
Again.
I sat down to write, but the words didn’t come.
I typed and deleted, typed and deleted, typed and deleted.
Frustration got to work, building a wall inside my mind.
I began to believe the lies that I’ve work hard to fight off.
I wanted to bang my head against the desk.
So, I messaged a friend.
Call it permission or invitation or a reminder, but often we need someone to speak up and encourage us to do the thing we know we need to do.
Today’s poem is a gentle note to carry with as you step away from work and come back to it tomorrow.
Or the next day.
Don’t let frustration win.
Don’t get carried away with doing that you miss out on being.
Don’t get lost working that you forget to live.
Take time to rest.
Take time to get away with the silence and speak with God.
Take time for yourself to be yourself.
Take time for the ones you love.
Take time to simply be.
With Hope,
Tanner Olson
Come Back to it Tomorrow
Has anyone ever told you—
you can come back to it tomorrow?
Go ahead.
Leave the dishes in the sink.
Let a few boxes on your to-do list stay unchecked.
Set down what doesn’t need to be held.
Leave your email untouched until Monday.
Give yourself room to be yourself.
Make space for rest, for family,
for that stack of books you’ve been meaning to read.
Let yesterday stay with yesterday.
Be here with today.
Let tomorrow find you when it comes.
Remember, you are more than what you do.
And right now, what you need most
is to create space to simply be.
So go ahead.
Just be.
You were made for more than doing—
you were made for living.
Step away.
You can come back to it tomorrow.
